Yes, I’ve always done that as well. As they got older, I would also have them occasionally do “my” chores (things like changing the oil in the car or paying the bills {using my money, of course}) just so they could get the experience of doing it before it became their responsibility as an adult. I found this especially useful for things that you might outsource and pay someone a lot of money to do (like an oil change), so they could weigh the pros and cons of doing it themselves vs. paying someone to do it. It was amazing sometimes how quickly they’d go from “I don’t want to do that, I’ll just pay someone” to “Wow, that was way easier than I thought, no way am I paying someone $$$$ to do that for me!”
