Why Is Being a Single Parent So Hard?

Some single parents will tell you it’s a breeze, while others will say it’s the hardest thing they’ve ever done. So what’s the difference in their situations?

As a single parent, I won’t tell you it’s easy. Parenting isn’t easy, period. But I also don’t think single parenting is the hardest thing in the world, either.

But before you decide that those who say it is are just whining wimps, let’s first remember that every individual is different. More than that, let’s remember that every single parent has a unique situation that makes it easier or tougher for them.

The things I’m about to talk about don’t apply to all single parents. Some may never deal with any of these, while others may only deal with one or two, and some might have the whole list and then some. The important thing to remember is that a single parent needs your support far more than they need your judgment.

So, what makes being a single parent so hard for some?

There’s no margin for error

When you’re a single parent, there’s no room for error. There’s no partner to pick up the slack if you forget an appointment, are running late, lose a job, forget to pay a bill, get…
