We all have them: pretty outfits, expensive champagne, decadent desserts, and other “special” things that are collecting dust. And why are they collecting dust? Because we’ve deemed them special and decided they can only be used when there’s a special occasion.

But why do we do that? Okay, maybe you can’t afford to drink expensive champagne every day, but why do the pretty clothes or delicious foods have to wait until something special enough happens to warrant using them?

Why can’t we just wear the pretty clothes because we want to? Or eat the scrumptious food because it tastes so good? Or go out to dinner because we want to?

Why can’t everyday be a special occasion?

Stop putting your happiness off

When we keep special clothes, foods, and other treats for special occasions only, we’re delaying happiness. It might not seem like it. You might feel like you’re a pretty happy person.

But think about how good you feel when you slip into that slinky dress, or those champagne bubbles dance on your tongue, or you bite into that juicy chocolate-covered strawberry. It feels really good, doesn’t it?
