What Is Sleep Meditation?
Is it different than other meditations? Should you try it?
One of the many benefits of meditation is better sleep. You might have heard people talking about sleep meditation and wondered what it is. Is it any different than other meditations? How do you do it? When do you do it?
Sleep meditation may sound like some mysterious and unique new form of meditation, but it’s really not that complicated. In fact, sleep meditations may be some of the easiest you’ll ever do. Why? Well, you can do it in bed!
Before we get too bogged down with details like where to practice sleep meditations, let’s first clarify what they are and why they’re good for you.
Why are you struggling with sleep?
There are a lot of reasons someone might struggle to sleep at night. Worries about work, kids, or other things can keep your mind too active to sleep. Anxiety, depression, and stress all can cause insomnia. Eating a heavy meal too close to bedtime or having an alcoholic nightcap can also contribute to poor sleep. As people get older, fluctuating hormones can create inconsistent sleep.
