It comes as a surprise to some people, but meditation can improve your relationships. The effects of meditation radiate out into all aspects of your life, which means that what seems like nothing more than a few minutes with your eyes closed can have a significant impact on all your relationships.

How does it do that, though? How can sitting in quiet contemplation for a few minutes a day improve your marriage, your relationship with your kids, with your boss or co-workers or friends?

Meditation increases gratitude

Gratitude is a simple and easy way to change your perspective on things. Every relationship has its rough spots — whether it’s your partner, your kid, or your boss.

When you’re grateful, you’re able to keep those rough spots in perspective. Grateful people tend to be more satisfied with their relationships and lives in general, and this satisfaction allows you to weather the difficulties without feeling like you want to end your relationship or quit your job.
