Should You Take Dating Advice From Someone Who’s Married?
Are married folks dating experts or completely out of touch with dating?
When it comes to parenting, you want to get advice from those who’ve been there: other parents. When it comes to dating, the same applies. And married people, obviously, have experience dating.
But the real question is, are they the ones to get your dating advice from? Does being married make them a dating expert who understands exactly how to navigate those waters and find the happiness you seek?
Or is a married person completely out of touch with what dating is like and therefore the worst possible person to get your dating advice from?
The answer is actually somewhere in between there. There are a few things to consider when deciding whether to take dating advice from someone who’s already married.
How long have they been married?
I love my mom and dad to death, but they’ve been married for more than 40 years — since the 1970s. So, as much as I love them, they are pretty much the last people I would ask for dating advice. Dating has changed way too much since the mid-‘70s for me to feel they have any relevant advice.
