It’s a question that everyone has likely asked at one time or another in their relationship, but how do you decide?
It’s a question I’ve seen countless times.
How do I know if I should stay or leave a complicated relationship?
Love is a beautiful thing, but it also makes life more difficult. When we love someone, we want what’s best for them. This leads us to put another’s needs ahead of our own, so that we ignore fundamental differences, enable addictions, and stay in relationships that are neither happy nor healthy.
The question of how to know when to stay and when to leave a complicated relationship is just as complicated as the relationship itself.
So let’s break it down a little.
How do I know?
How do I know is as question as old as time. Even Whitney Houston wanted to know how to know if he really loved her.
We all want clear, uncomplicated answers to all our questions in life. We want to know what happens after we die and what the future holds. So wondering whether to stay or go makes total sense.
And like those other unanswerable questions, sometimes we don’t know whether to stay or go.
