My Top 8 Tips For Single Parent Organization
When you’re parenting on your own, organization really matters
When I was a stay-at-home mom and still married to my ex, organization was easy. With all day, every day, to take care of one kid and a house, I had more free time than I would have expected. But after we split and I suddenly became a single mom of two, my free time practically disappeared and the tricks I’d used for organization before didn’t work quite as well. They required more time or effort than I had or they worked better for a stay-at-home parent who had more time at home or the ability to easily rearrange what their days looked like.
Over my years as a single parent, I’ve learned a few tips and tricks for getting organized in a way that lets me find everything I need when I need it and allows me to (usually) get out of the house on time for any event or appointment. Some things I figured out for myself, others came from friends or family who shared their tips with me, but all of them made life so much easier.
As we near the end of January, which is not only Get Organized month but also a month when resolutions are set and already fading from memory, I thought I’d share a few of my best tips to help you feel more motivated to try to get — and stay — organized.
