There are a number of ways that meditation can improve your sex life. We’ve already talked about how it can help you be more present, reduce stress so you’re more relaxed and open to sex, get more comfortable with your body and be more open with your partner.

Today, let’s talk about how meditation can help you have better sex by looking at some of the deeper emotional aspects.

Feeling whole

All too often, we rely on others — specifically our partners — to make us feel whole. “You complete me” is a beautiful line in Jerry Maguire but in the real world, it’s a lot of pressure to put on someone else. How can someone else complete you when they can never even fully know you to the deepest depths of your soul?

The pressure to complete your partner, or for them to make you feel whole, can put a real damper on sex. It can be difficult to feel aroused if you’re wondering how to make the other person feel whole — or feeling bad because you can’t. And if you’re already of the belief that you can’t make another person whole, it can be difficult to want the intimate connection that comes with sex when you know the other person is expecting you to do just that.
