I wasn’t implying he had a chance before then. Well, in retrospect, I do see that he may have taken it that way. But I had told him I was still seeing other men and said and did other things to let him know I wasn’t interested. But yes, I was still trying to be nice. Having been in more than one abusive relationship in my past, I think trying to keep the peace with a man is a holdover for me that I still need to work on.
