Psychologist John T. Chirban Ph.D, Th.D. suggests that although for many years psychologists have neglected the role of spirituality for healing, times are changing. Dr. Chirban says that psychologists are becoming more aware of the limitations of scientific methods for patients who have deeply spiritual beliefs.
Those who are able to practice some form of spiritual enlightenment have reported certain benefits to their mental and physical health. History Of Meditation
Certified meditation and yoga instructor Melissa Eisler says that according to most scholars the practice of meditation dates back to between 5000–3500 BCE. Many of the ancient religions of Asia have been practicing meditation in some form or another for thousands of years.
