I am not a gym girl. I have gym membership, and I go to the gym about four times a week. But I’m not a gym girl.

I’m not the woman who gets up every day, eager to go get sweaty and work out. My idea of a fun time is not being out in the hot Florida sun for a jog or a run. A swim, sure. A hike, if the weather is cool enough. But if I’m running, you should be too, because something’s chasing me.

Despite the fact that I am not an active person, I do get active on a regular basis. And I did not appreciate the benefits of this activity until recently when I couldn’t be active for a bit.

Skin Cancer, Surgery, and Sensitive Skin

I was diagnosed with a basal cell carcinoma on my upper mid-back in the middle of June. The pathology results of the biopsy came back quickly and my surgery was scheduled for July 2nd. It was a minor surgery done in the dermatologist’s office. I was awake and sitting up for the entire procedure, and eventually the results came back that the margins were clear. I am skin cancer-free.
