We’re getting into the literal definition here, folks, because too many don’t understand
As a single mom coach who helps clients learn to engage in and embrace self-care, one of the things that bugs me most is how so many people view self-care. And this article, bringing attention to a viral video, just highlights the problem even more.
Let’s begin with the literal definition of self-care, shall we?
Do you see those words? That is the literal definition of self-care. This means the things she describes in her video are forms of self-care. Doing the dishes, basic hygiene, buying and preparing food, sitting down to eat a meal instead of scarfing it down on the run, and using the bathroom (supervised or not) are forms of self care.
Let me say that a little louder for those at the back: THESE BASIC HUMAN NEEDS ARE FORMS OF SELF-CARE.
