We live in a world where technology makes it easy to have a relationship with someone on the other side of the world and ghosting is an easy out when we don’t want to see someone again. Relationships are evolving just like technology.

But when it comes to breakups, there are some old-fashioned rules that still apply. If you don’t want to see someone anymore, but you care about them as a person, keep these do’s and don’ts in mind when you break things off.

Do it in person

Breakups are hard enough. The least we owe to someone who gave us their all is the courtesy of eye contact and our physical presence as we end things with them. It shows them we still care enough to give them our time. It also makes it real and harder to pretend it didn’t happen.

Of course, there are some exceptions to this rule:

· Long-distance relationships

· Abusive relationships

· If the other person knows it’s coming and is deliberately trying to avoid seeing you
