OOver my years of dating as a single parent, one thing I have learned is that not everyone is up for the challenge. And it is a challenge.

Dating a single parent requires a different level of patience and understanding. It requires more planning and effort. And it means accepting and embracing that if things work out, you’ll have a ready-made family.

And not everyone is up for all that. And that’s okay.

Some people prefer uncomplicated relationships. They don’t want to deal with kids who aren’t their own. They don’t want kids at all. Whatever their reasons, they just know that dating a single parent isn’t right for them. And that’s all okay.

But sometimes you might not be sure. You have a cute neighbor or co-worker who has an adorable kid. And you think you really like them, but you’re not sure about the whole kid thing. And so you wonder… can you do this as a trial run? Or is it an all or nothing commitment?

You can do it as a trial run, yes. Sometimes you do need to give dating a single parent a try to discover you can or can’t handle it.
