6 Self-Care Tips for Single Moms
If you’re struggling to make time for self-care, this will help
Single moms need self-care perhaps more than anyone else and yet we also struggle the most to find time for it. Between work, our kids, and taking care of a home, there just aren’t enough hours in the day to do something just for us that doesn’t benefit anyone else.
And that attitude is part of the problem. Thinking that our self-care doesn’t benefit others allows us to categorize it as selfish and therefore, to justify skipping it. But our self-care does benefit others. It benefits them in our reduced stress, increased patience, and all the other resources that we replenish with self-care after depleting them in taking care of those around us.
But the other part of the problem is the obvious part: we have little to no time for self-care. We’ve gotten this idea that self-care should take a chunk of time — after all, the trend is “Self-Care Sunday” — and if we can’t find that chunk of time… well, we’re just out of luck, right?
Wrong!
It’s wrong on both counts. It’s wrong that it needs to take a chunk of time. And it’s wrong that if you can’t find a chunk of time, you’re out of luck.
