Relationships take many forms, and commitment is only one of them. For some of us, though, commitment is the form that we want most. Whether it’s getting out of the “dating” stage and into the exclusive relationship one, or moving from long-term love to spouse, commitment carries a heavy meaning for some people.
Everyone moves at their own speed, however, and that can mean waiting a long time for the commitment you want. But if you pay attention and look for the signs, you’ll often be able to tell when someone is simply a little behind you on the path to committed bliss, and when the path they’re on doesn’t lead to commitment at all.
You only get superficial information
On a first date, asking the question, “How was your day?” may result in a single word answer such as “Fine,” or “Good.” But if you’ve been seeing each other for six months and that’s still all you get? Commitment isn’t likely.
