4 Non-Negotiable Rules to Meeting Your Online Date for the First Time
Whether you’re a single mom getting back out there or a young adult testing the waters for the first time, these are the rules you need to follow
I recently spoke with a single mom whose young adult son was using a dating app. She was thrilled that he had come to her for her advice about a woman he’d been chatting with for a little over an hour who was pushing hard to meet him rather late at night.
She’d advised him against it — but not because of the lateness of the hour. She advised him not to do it because of how quickly the woman was trying to meet him. And while that’s also a good reason not to do it, the lateness of the hour should have also been a red flag for both her and her son.
When I suggested this to her, she brushed it off. “He’s a guy. He’d be fine.”
We often worry about protecting women when it comes to online dating. And we should. Women are far more likely to be raped, assaulted or even murdered by a date (through online dating or otherwise) than men.
But men can be catfished too. And men can be victims of rape, assault, and murder too. And if we really want to get morbid and go down a dark road, what better way…
