When you’ve got kids at home during a normal summer, hearing “I’m bored!” is standard. Throw in a pandemic keeping life on lockdown and it can seem like those two words are the only ones your kids know.

Just because you need to stay home and keep your distance from others doesn’t mean all the family fun has to stop, though. In fact, there’s a ton of stuff you can do at home that the whole family will love. You might need to venture out to a store or two to pick up a few items but otherwise, I’ve got 14 simple ideas for real fun at home this summer — including over the 4th of July weekend, if you’re facing a serious lack of festivities in your area.

Play with sidewalk chalk

The sidewalk, the driveway, the porch, even the exterior walls of the house can be fair game for art when you’ve got sidewalk chalk.
