A couple of weeks ago, I turned 41. When I turned 40 last year, I wrote about the life lessons I’d learned up until that point. In the last year, there have been a few more life lessons for me. But while the things I wrote about last year were learned at various stages of my life, the ones I’m writing about today are the result of turning 40.

This last year has been a very different year than any that came before it. I lost more than one person in my life, changed directions on plans for my future, watched my oldest child become an adult in front of my eyes, and found myself diving deep into my own soul to make decisions and learn who I was.

And doing those things made me realize 12 things that have totally changed my life.
